Visit Yamaha London's Winter Wonderland
If you're still stuck for present ideas there's still time!
It's not long until the big day, but Yamaha London's store just off Oxford Street is full of last minute (but no less special) musical gift ideas
The store itself is a spectacle, and is worth the visit just to step into the piano hall that is steeped in musical history. This also played host to one of my favourite of the top ten gifts for Christmas:
1) Yamaha U1TA TransAcoustic Upright Piano - SRP £11,480 (inc. VAT)
Situated in the piano hall, this was in pride of place to showcase its fantastic technology. It has the unique ability to be played not only as a normal acoustic piano, but also digitally through their TransAcoustic technology. The designers have clearly hit the right note with this technology, allowing the piano to be played digitally however loudly or quietly as the user desires without the use of headphones (however these can be used if preferred). The sensors within the piano pick up exactly the keystroke depth and timing, perfectly replicating playing a normal piano. It even gives the player the ability to choose the genre of the piano, which can be anything from a harpsichord to a concert grand. You can also use the soundboard to play pre-recorded tracks or plug in external players through the USB port or AUX-IN jack, which the user can accompany through playing.
2) MusicCast WX-030 Wireless Speaker - £199 (inc. VAT)
At the other end of the spectrum is the new home audio product, the MusicCast. This can be plugged in anywhere around the house, studio or office, and can be connected as the hub to your TV, PC, Blu Ray player or CD Player. This can all be easily controlled by the dedicated MusicCast app quickly & simply. The MusicCast can also be used via Bluetooth to connect to headphones or an additional speaker, allowing you to listen wherever you are. The music quality for something so small is so amazing, and the technology hidden inside allows for amazing bass performance. Setting it up is simple using the app, and you can up and running within minutes of turning it on using the touch buttons on the unit.
These are just two of the top picks from the store's Christmas top ten gifts, and if pianos or sound systems aren't your thing, there are acoustic guitars, keyboards, drum kits (standard and electronic), violins (again normal and electric) and brass instruments aplenty to see...so if you're struggling get yourself to the Wardour Street today!
